Coursework
British Life and Business
The British Life and Business course has structured its curriculum in a way where I can appreciate more of what I observe during my time in London in regard to the underlying history, themes, and institutions of the United Kingdom. During this course the professor provided coursework that allowed for a comprehensive examination of British life and multiculturalism past, present, and future through a business lens.
International Trade
Through the International Trade course, I gained a deeper understanding of the nature and basis of international trade, the world trading system, and controversies surrounding contemporary trade policies. More specific to the United Kingdom, this course encouraged the appreciation of the role of London in the growth of trade and as an international financial center. A few key institutions we looked at were the World Trade Organization, the European Union, NAFTA, and multinational enterprises.

Nylon Pie: Dockside Vaults - Internship
Over the summer I had the opportunity to as a commercial assistant intern for Nylon Pie. Nylon Pie is based in New York and London, it is a leisure consultancy specialising in owning and operating hospitality business and venue acquisition for immersive events and experiences. Throughout my internship, I was involved in a diverse range of tasks focusing on increasing the company's outreach and operational efficiency. These included attending site visits to assess potential locations, conducting extensive research and outreach to prospective clients, designing event pages and graphics to further promotional efforts, establishing and curating engaging social media profiles, planning and hosting an event for 40 guests, and assisting with managing the Dockside Vaults venue. Through this internship I have gained a deeper understanding of event management and venue operations.
Wimbledon
Wimbledon is one of the four major Grand Slam tournaments in tennis. It has a rich history, prestigious atmosphere, and world-class tennis matches. I attended Wimbledon three times over the summer and it exceeded all expectations! From start to finish, the experience was unlike any other sporting event I had ever attended. At Wimbledon, the queueing system offers access to the event for just £27.00, making it accessible to everyone. My day would start at 6:00 am in the queue. Once inside, I would take the opportunity to explore Wimbledon Village, and then I'd head to the courts to witness the on-court action!
Trooping of the Colour
Over the summer I attended the Trooping the Colour parade. The Trooping the Colour is a ceremonial event held annually in London, celebrating the British monarch's official birthday. Towards the end of the ceremony the Royal Family makes an appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, where they greet the crowds and enjoy a flypast by the Royal Air Force. The Trooping the Colour is not only a tribute to the monarch but also a symbol of national pride and heritage, embodying centuries of tradition and military excellence.
London Underground: The Tube
At the beginning of the program I received an oyster card granting me access to various modes of transportation across London. I primarily used the London Underground also known as the Tube to get everywhere and I found it to be one of the easier and more efficient public transportation systems available. Regularly utilizing the Tube has further developed my navigation skills and problem solving abilities, especially when faced with line closures or delays. Coming back to the United States, my environmental consciousness has increased due to the lack of easily accessible public transportation systems in my local area.
Campus Engagement
LAS Soiree
The Lebanese American Society at UF showcases Lebanese culture through food, music, dance, and social gatherings. During the fall semester, I had the opportunity to attend the LAS Soiree, the event served foods I had not tried before including kafta, falafel, kibbeh, pita and more. A dance circle was created and we all were learning dance moves and enjoying the music.
Mentor/Mentee
Being part of UF NaviGators International, I had the privilege to serve as a mentor for two international students from the United Kingdom and Australia. Through this experience we were able to learn about each other's backgrounds and perspectives. I took on a new understanding of the challenges and experiences an international student may face and assisted where I could to provide a supportive and inclusive environment.
New Orleans Trip with UF NaviGators
The New Orleans trip was lead by UF NaviGators International. Attending this trip was an opportunity for international students, my mentee, and I to travel to city outside of Gainesville. New Orleans is great for its cuisine, music, and history. During our trip, we explored the French Quarter, enjoyed a jazz bar, and ate beignets from Cafe du Monde. We also had a few local dishes like gumbo and jambalaya.
